An efficient warehouse does not exist if every task uses the same trolley

almacén eficiente

It is a common belief that any trolley is suitable for any job and, at first glance, it may seem like an unimportant decision. However, an efficient warehouse requires equipment specifically adapted to each stage of the logistics process.

Moving heavy goods is not the same as order picking, replenishment or transporting delicate products. If we want to optimise time, reduce operators’ physical effort and minimise the risk of incidents, we need more than a logistics operation that simply moves products from one place to another.

In an efficient warehouse, every logistics operation requires its own solution

Not all warehouses operate in the same way, and not all goods require the same handling. A distribution centre and an industrial warehouse need different, purpose-built solutions.

When the same trolley is used for every task, small obstacles begin to appear that affect the entire operational chain. For example:

  • Operators have to make more trips than necessary
  • Some loads are uncomfortable to transport
  • Time is wasted organising goods

These may seem like minor issues individually, but repeated hundreds of times a day they have a direct negative impact on warehouse productivity.

The solution is to adapt the equipment to the task, not the other way around. That is why at Carttec we design different types of warehouse trolleys to meet very specific needs:

  • Platform trolleys: ideal for transporting heavy or bulky loads safely and stably.
  • Picking trolleys: speed up order preparation while keeping goods organised.
  • Cage trolleys or enclosed containers: protect delicate products and reduce the risk of losses during transport.
  • Multi-level models: facilitate product classification and optimise available space.
  • Versions with four swivel wheels or a combination of fixed and swivel wheels: adapt to the required route and manoeuvrability.

But the difference is not only in the design. Material quality, load capacity, ergonomics and the technological solutions that can be incorporated also play a key role in improving safety and productivity.

Tools designed for everyday operations

At Carttec, we design every system with the day-to-day reality of logistics centres in mind, which is why our warehouse trolleys are such an effective solution.

An efficient warehouse requires robust, high-capacity and customised solutions tailored to each specific task.

Optimising logistics is much more than moving goods. To do it properly, businesses need the right equipment to reduce handling times, improve organisation and create a safer working environment from the very first movement.
